Advocating for work-life balance in Malaysia by promoting happier families and actively contributing to the improvement of society.
Since inception, OpiS has worked and collaborated with a myriad of partners from NGO’s to government agencies to associations. OpiS has helped certify more than 50 women from the B40 community to become home-based child care providers and assisted 64 women and their families through cervical cancer screening. OpiS has also managed to engage close to 10,000 beneficiaries through the “Raising Superheroes Series” program from virtual sessions conducted that kicked off during the pandemic.
OpiS was established with the objective of creating an inclusive community for children, working adults, and individuals with disabilities. This commitment to inclusivity not only promotes diversity but also ensures that no one is left behind in the pursuit of economic progress.
OpiS's efforts to empower individuals from marginalized communities, such as mothers from B40 communities and refugee communities, directly support SDG 8's objective of creating equal opportunities for all. By providing support, resources, and motivation, OpiS has helped these individuals overcome barriers and participate in their community.
OpiS has made significant strides in addressing inequalities, particularly through its programmes with B40 women and refugee communities. These efforts have yielded substantial outcomes, with B40 women obtaining certification as home-based child care providers. Additionally, OpiS has focused on empowering refugee youths by motivating them and raising awareness about available opportunities within their area and organization.
OpiS has forged strong partnerships in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 17, which emphasizes the importance of collaboration for achieving shared goals. Through close collaboration with UNICEF, OpiS has conducted educational programs on online safety for parents and children. Additionally, partnerships with organizations like the Al-Hasan Refugee Network have facilitated team-building workshops for refugee youths.
OpiS has engaged in collaborations with various stakeholders, including NGOs, government agencies, and associations, to foster community development and empower individuals, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable development through collective action.
OpiS has offered educational sessions and workshops geared toward both children and adults, particularly emphasizing the importance of child safety and protection. Conducting programs such as Raising Superheroes, Empowerment, Mental Health talks, and Our Lives Online, the latter being a joint effort with UNICEF.
Through collaborations with UNICEF and Al-Hasan Volunteer Network, OpiS has had the honour of engaging with and supporting refugee communities in Malaysia. This involvement included organizing team-building workshops and donation campaigns aimed at offering assistance.
"Sembang Apa Tu?" was a virtual talk series that debuted during the pandemic lockdown. It involved in-depth discussions led by a panel of knowledgeable speakers, covering various topics related to the challenges brought about by the pandemic.
During the pandemic peak, OpiS partnered with Al-Hasan Volunteer Network to arrange a donation drive specifically aimed at assisting refugee families with newborns and infants.
